If you are open to just ONE New Year’s Resolution:

Join SafeTech NC as we launch our 100-Night Challenge beginning January 1st:

Sleeping Cell Phone Free!

Newsletter-12-31-2023

Sleep is the most important time to reduce our wireless radiation exposures. It allows our bodies and brains to recover from exposures during the day. Even if your phone is on “Airplane Mode,” the Wi-Fi, Blue Tooth, and numerous apps may still be emitting wireless radiation. And the blue light and addictive algorithms of the device don’t make for sound sleep, even if just checking just briefly.

Join us for this 100-night challenge! Here’s how to begin: Get yourself a battery-powered, silent alarm clock like this one linked here: Braun battery-powered alarm clock with snooze      Unplug/power down all wireless devices in the bedroom. That includes your Kindle, Fire, Alexa, Echo, laptops, gaming devices, etc.    If using a C-Pap for sleep apnea: Turn the Blue-Tooth & Wi-Fi off! (You can provide a chip for any needed sleep studies or compliance for insurance)

If you need to be reached in case of emergency, and don’t have a landline: Two Options:

Good option: Move the phone far from the bed and use Do Not Disturb in Settings. Enter only those numbers that must be able to reach you at night.

Best Option: Corded Landline! VOIP (Voice-over-Internet Protocol) phones provide cheap landline options if you have cabled or fiber internet connectivity.   Be sure the landline and VOIP device are both corded, not cordless.

We would love to hear your experience with this challenge, whether this is new for you, or you have been practicing this for a while. Share your success stories with us SafeTechNC@ProtonMail.com

Strong, school-wide cell phone policies are urgently needed!

Children feel lots of pressure to have a phone at school to “keep up” with their peers, even when they have been taught this a bad idea. Check out a recent story from the Epoch Times of one high school student who weathered this storm.  Let us know if you need help improving your local school’s cell phone policy.

SafeTech NC’s Recent Accomplishments:

School Nurses Introduced to Wireless Radiation: Science, Symptoms, and Interventions

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and volunteers, a team of us shared safer-tech information with 300+ school nurses at their annual conference in Greensboro, NC. Of the nurses who have worked in schools for 5+ years (when most all NC students were issued wireless devices issues by their schools), 99% reported an increase in students complaining of numerous symptoms that are commonly related to cumulative exposure to wireless radiation. We look forward to supporting these nurses in 2024! Many thanks to the Environmental Health Trust and ScreenStrong for sharing their printed materials for this awesome event!

Supporting Children’s Rights in the Digital Age

SafeTech NC’s Director, Mary Anne Tierney, RN, was honored to be the U.S. Panelist for the first webinar of the International Declaration on the Human Rights of Children in the Digital Age. We hope you will consider signing this important online document, which urges the UN,WHO, governments, and schools worldwide to ensure three fundamental legal rights of children:

  • their right to be free from intentionally addictive devices, platforms and apps;
  • their right to be free from excessive exposure to wireless radiation;
  • and their right to be free from commercial exploitation
