We bring you this e-news to join in the growing movement of those reducing screen time, which also reduces radiation risks and improves interpersonal connections!

This Friday – Saturday, March 1-2, sundown to sundown
Join thousands of us from 12 countries around the world as we turn off our cell phones for this opportunity to slow down and connect in person with those we care about. Even just a few hours unplugged can help us “reset” to prioritize who and what we love. The U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, MD, believes we have an “epidemic of loneliness, isolation, and lack of connection,” which his recent report states is due in part to excessive screen time. The annual 24-hour Global Day of Unplugging is intended to elevate human connection over digital engagement. Just like Earth Day protects the environment, this unplugged day preserves the human spirit!
Some ideas for your time unplugged:
- Meet up with friends for tea/coffee.
- Host an unplugged game night or sing along
- Read together or do some crafting with kids.
- Take a hike or long walk.

NC Attorney General Holds Town Hall on Social Media & Children’s Mental Health
We were honored to provide public comments at NC Attorney General Josh Stein’s Town Hall in Asheville on February 27 on the effects of social media on children’s mental health. He shared how several NC school districts have adopted policies to keep cell phones out of schools, and the positive effects on focus and community building. Great! Mr. Stein and his team listened intently as four of us attendees shared how wireless radiation from cell phones also effects on mood, sleep, and learning. Let us know if you are aware of cell phone policies in NC high schools that keep phones away for the whole day. More on this in April!
International Declaration on the Human Rights of Children in the Digital Age
If you have not already signed the International Declaration on the Human Rights of Children in the Digital Age, please consider taking less than 5 minutes to do that now at this link. It will be presented next to the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council on April 9th. There are more than 2,000 signatories, including at least 150 MDs and 70 attorneys, urging an end to addictive design of social media, radiation exposures, and commercial exploitation of children.
