Cell Towers

Cell Towers

Health effects from the radio-frequency radiation emitted by cell towers is documented in peer-reviewed research and includes increased cancer risk, headaches, sleep issues, genetic damage, changes to the reproductive system, memory deficits, impacts to the nervous system and more.

Many biological effects have been documented at very low intensities comparable to what people might experience within 500 meters (1,640 feet) of a cell tower, as noted by reliable studies such as this one:

Professor Kent Chamberlin and the New Hampshire 5G Study

Professor Kent Chamberlin, PhD, now retired as the Chair Emeritus of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of New Hampshire, explained in his testimony to the NH 5G Study Commission the need for setbacks with 5G small cells and cell towers, highlighted in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t85QgvfKNkE.

He is introduced in the video by Jim Wilusz, the Health Director of the Tri-Town Health Department in MA’s southern Berkshires.

For an in-depth understanding of cell towers and 5G is, see this in-depth report by Oram Miller, Building Biologist, updated March 11, 2022.

Studies on Cell Towers

  • Biological effects from exposure to electromagnetic radiation emitted by cell tower base stations and other antenna arrays. Blake Levitt and Henry Lai, (2010) Environmental Reviews, 2010, 18(NA): 369-395. Biological effects from exposure to electromagnetic radiation emitted by cell tower base stations and other antenna arrays.  This meta-analysis (study of studies) examined more than 50 studies’ findings on wireless radiation at the levels equivalent to cell towers.
  • The widely-respected Ramazzini Institute,  based in Italy and renowned for its high-quality studies on environmental health, found essentially the same results as the National Toxicology Program, yet at much lower levels of exposure in 2018.  The radiation emissions in this study were very similar to those emitted by cell towers at 500 meters (1, 640 feet)
